A Mind Tickle

I loved the quote I heard decades ago about memories are paintings on the walls of your mind. Fill your mind museum walls with uplifting memories. When I travel I try to soak up everything I see and do to paint great memories in my mind. Andrea came home for a few days with an ambitious project for the two of us. In three days we scrapbooked our week vacation last March in Victoria, Vancouver Island, BC, Canada. My job was to go through the thousands of pictures from all of our digital photos on my computer and pick out just the highlights for each day's activities. It was a huge challenge - how do you select only a few of such great sights and activities? But we did it! We had the book totally completed by the time Andrea left last night (23 two page layouts). It was so fun to relive those great times. But sadly I have to admit - some of those great paintings on the walls of my mind must have fallen to the floor (old age, you say?) Good to have the pictures to tickle my mind.

Andrea showed me the scrapbook this morning and you ladies did an outstanding job. I'm always tickled how your mind can organize (agonize when I do it?) the pictures into such pleasing layouts.

When I was helping Joanne with this post--trying to get the pictures to display the way she wanted them--I made a cut-and-past error. If you click on the top-right image you will get a surprise! Here is a link to the full-size image of the picture displayed in the post: View

If you're not old (like me) and you still have moldy swiss cheese for a memory (like me) what does that mean? Am I doomed for early Alzheimer's?

That is a WHOLE lot of scrapbooking!! If only I could work so quickly. And Joanne you must teach me how to be selective in the pictures I choose. Will look forward to seeing the scrapbook.

BTW I did like the surprise picture.

That's fun! I like the picture switch. Jack worked hard to figure out how to do that and here you just did it by accident. : )

Julianne,
I don't think you are necessarily doomed for AD, but I do always tell my patients to keep their minds active and to work on their memory. It's one of those use it or lose it things. (Either that or you can work on it later when you have the spare time and energy for such a thing.) : )

Julianne, just take lots of pictures! Take pictures of where you set down your car keys, where you parked your car at the mall, where you left the baby....
